My name is Lia and I'm moving to Jinan, Shandong in a month to study at the Shandong uni of finance and economics. The problem is my friend who was supposed to help me with finding an apartment backed out in the last moment :(( On the sites for renting an apartment long term - they all require a chinese phone number which I don't currently have. Is there anyone here who could help me with this issue? I'd be greatful for any tips that you have :))) ❤️ Quote

They may have an office for foreign students, or a housing office. Even if they can't find you housing, at the very least they may be able to put you touch with some reputable and reliable contact who can help you. As with many things in China, the best advice is to network. Get in touch with people who may be able to help. Many was the time I was helped by a friend's colleague's mother's cousin (etc.), but people have to know that you need help. So I'd suggest making contact with admin people at the university first. You never know where it can lead. Aside from that, you could try hiring someone to help. There are many websites where people offer themselves as short- and long-term personal assistants. If you have a specific task, you can usually find someone at a reasonable price. All the best with flat hunting. I hope you find somewhere nice, and enjoy your time in Jinan 🙂 Quote

Personally, i found my rental apartment through China Tiktok (Douyin), which didn't request china number from me, i basically search for agent through that platforms, however there might be risk if let's say you're not so lucky, the agent could be less reliable!
