I just released a new version, and I'm trying to get more feedback so it's completely free for beta users. You just need to sign up for a beta account. Would love to hear your feedback! Lu Posted March 19, 2025 at 06:24 PM Report Posted March 19, 2025 at 06:24 PM Speaking as a moderator: it has been brought to our attention that an unscrupulous person could build a VPN to steal people's data. I'm leaving this post up, but note that using an unknown VPN is at one's own risk. At the same time, assuming OP is bona fide, I wish this VPN company all the best. Quote
New Members willprice89 Posted March 19, 2025 at 07:59 PM Author New Members Report Posted March 19, 2025 at 07:59 PM Yes, that's a valid concern. To be clear though a VPN operator cannot steal sensitive information like passwords, usernames, messages, search history, etc. Almost all traffic on the internet is encrypted from your computer to the website these days. Whether it is a VPN or a coffee shop wifi, the operator can only see metadata like: the hostname of sites you are visiting how much traffic is sent to/from sites when traffic is sent what type of communication protocols you are using To give a specific example: a VPN operator could in theory watch your traffic and determine that you frequently "www.chinese-forums.com", and that you are probably interacting with a website at that host. They could not tell what topics you are browsing or what you posted, nor could they steal your account login info. For most people things aren't as scary as NordVPN ads make them out to be. But if you are a high-profile target like a whistleblower, activist, reporter etc. even that metadata can be more than enough to compromise your identity. So yes, be aware of the risks when using any VPN (including Wallpunch). Happy to answer any other questions people might have! Quote
