JenniferW Posted September 8, 2025 at 09:56 AM Report Posted September 8, 2025 at 09:56 AM Can anyone help translate a quotation by Mao? If I could read his writing I could look things up, but I can't translate half of them. This was given to me by my sister after she visited China in the early 1970s. Many decades later, it made me go and visit the bridge (I was working not a million miles from Nanjing). 1 Quote

JenniferW Posted September 9, 2025 at 02:30 PM Author Report Posted September 9, 2025 at 02:30 PM Thank you so much, Tomsima! Is the 飞 character he used the old (non-simplified) form? I'd completely forgotten I needed to be thinking about that (as well as being really rusty in general). 1 Quote
Tomsima Posted September 10, 2025 at 12:10 AM Report Posted September 10, 2025 at 12:10 AM Yes, Mao's calligraphy is always written based on the traditional characters, here the actual characters are: 一橋飛架南北,天塹變通途 1 Quote
