i don’t know what your statement is trying to express but i asked deepseek this: “is there any chinese idiom that expresses the same sentiment as “let go or be dragged” in english? explain what the statement could even mean”

當斷不斷,反受其亂 wouldnt that be like 'if you don't take decisive action, be prepared for disastrous consequences'? 

in the original suggestion 或 seems to read more like 或許 'might, perhaps' than the English 'or', thoughts?

OP just get the tattoo in English, why try and hide it in Chinese? It will more likely make Chinese speakers laugh than anything else.

Right.  Chances are something will be off and perhaps be ridiculous as a result.

It's like when we Americans see T-shirts that say "University of Harvard," we know they're fake because it's always written as "Harvard University."
