jason.yin Posted March 3, 2026 at 07:45 AM Report Posted March 3, 2026 at 07:45 AM Hi everyone, I’ve just launched a Chinese dictionary website called PandaDict, and I wanted to share it here with fellow Chinese learners – it’s built specifically to help with HSK study and mastering Chinese characters/words. It covers all 10,000+ official HSK vocabulary entries across Levels 1-9, and every entry comes with detailed definitions, practical example sentences, and native pronunciation audio to help with both comprehension and speaking. For anyone struggling with character writing, each Chinese character also has clear stroke breakdowns and smooth stroke order animations to guide your practice step by step. I’ve tried to make the interface clean and uncluttered (no messy extra stuff!), and added little features like smart tone coloring (color-coded tones for quick recognition) to make learning a bit easier – the whole site is designed around what actual learners need for daily HSK study and retention. You can check it out here: https://pandadict.app I’d really appreciate it if you could give it a try, and I’m very looking forward to your feedback – any suggestions on how to improve it for better learning experience are more than welcome! Hope it can be a useful little tool for your Chinese learning journey 😊 Quote
wibr Posted March 4, 2026 at 08:41 PM Report Posted March 4, 2026 at 08:41 PM Crashes immediately when typing in some symbols like "." or "*" into the search field. Which sources were used? I couldn't find attributions or any other indication which dictionary is used for the data. Quote
Elliott Jones Posted March 5, 2026 at 06:06 AM Report Posted March 5, 2026 at 06:06 AM The UI for the site is actually really nice, plus the example sentences and synonyms are good. Other than what @wibr mentioned, the only problem I see is that it has a limited number of words (I searched for 劉海 and 昏倒 and didn't get any results), maybe this is because only words on a HSK list are included? If so, maybe also consider adding words from the TOCFL, which will give you a lot of vocab used in Taiwan too. A nice feature to add would be the ability to create lists of words which can be exported into Anki decks. Quote
jason.yin Posted March 5, 2026 at 12:20 PM Author Report Posted March 5, 2026 at 12:20 PM Thank you for your feedback. I will fix this issue as soon as possible. The data comes from authoritative explanations in Chinese dictionaries. Quote
jason.yin Posted March 5, 2026 at 12:26 PM Author Report Posted March 5, 2026 at 12:26 PM @Elliott Jones Thank you for your valuable feedback! Currently, the app only includes HSK words. More entries, including traditional Chinese terms used in Taiwan, are being proofread and will be added soon. The word collection/export feature is on our roadmap and will be released shortly. Thanks again for your support! 1 Quote

Elliott Jones Posted March 19, 2026 at 02:37 AM Report Posted March 19, 2026 at 02:37 AM Hi @jason.yin, when testing again today, I noticed that searching with Pinyin doesn't work if you exclude the space between each character. Without the space: With the space: Quote
