New Members Gojo Satoru Posted July 25, 2025 at 06:13 AM New Members Report Posted July 25, 2025 at 06:13 AM I'm heading to TJU this September (Scholarship Student - Great Wall Fellowship) and I reached out to the dormitory management via email. They let me know that single rooms are only available for self funded students. And that I should apply in person three days before the registration date. I did write back to them asking if it's possible to pay extra to get the single dorm or just apply for off campus accommodation. I'm a slightly older student so I'd like to have privacy. I also have a very low tolerance to noise (think constant migraines and no focus) and can't risk having a loud roommate. My questions: 1. Has any CSC student at TJU successfully applied for off campus Accommodation, or was it rejected? 2. Is it actually possible to pay more money and get a single dorm? I know it's been a while since this was updated but I'm hoping someone can actually help me out. Quote
zhouhaochen Posted July 29, 2025 at 08:42 AM Report Posted July 29, 2025 at 08:42 AM I didnt study at TJU, so cannot directly comment. In my experience you might just want to choose to stay in an apartment and not in the dorms at all. Chinese universities are state owned enterprises that still need to make a profit and need to make sure their costs are lower than the scholarship money they receive from the government. I would not have too high expectations..... Quote
